Q&A WITH ROSEMIN OPGENHAFFEN:

What is your most valuable possession and why?

It’s not possession per say – it’s family.

My immediate family for their unconditional love, and few people in my life who truly are family for me. It’s the greatest gift I cherish.

What are your top 3 life lessons and how have they changed your life for the better (in other words, how have you implemented them to better your life)?

First: Trust your instinct, it’s often far more intelligent than overthinking. I’ve learned to listen to that inner voice when making major decisions.

Second: Resilience is a muscle, every setback has strengthened my ability to move forward with greater clarity.

Third: Edit your life the way you edit your wardrobe, surround yourself with what truly adds value. These principles have allowed me to build a life and business that feel aligned and intentional.

What is the most valuable advice you’ve received and how did it set you up to win?

“Know your worth, and then add tax.”

Early in my career, I was often in rooms where I had to prove myself repeatedly. Once I truly internalized my value, I stopped negotiating from a place of doubt and started building from a place of confidence. That shift directly influenced my decision to launch Rosemin Beauty on my own terms.

Trust your instinct, it’s often far more intelligent than overthinking.

What is the worst advice you’ve received and how did it impact you?

“To wait your turn.”

In industries like fashion and beauty, timing is everything, but waiting often means missing the moment. Had I waited, I wouldn’t have launched my brand when I did. Sometimes you have to create your own timing rather than wait for permission.

What is the one mistake you regret in life, and why?

Spending time in environments where I felt I had to shrink to belong in relationships, work, etc.

If I could change that, I would have stepped into my full power much earlier. That shift is important because it directly impacts how you show up not just professionally, but personally.

When you face a challenge, what’s your method to move past it?

I step back before I step forward. I assess the situation objectively, remove emotion, and then create a clear plan. I’ve learned that clarity not urgency is what drives the best outcomes.

How do you create a work-life balance?

I see it less as balance and more as integration. My work is deeply personal to me, but I also prioritize moments that ground me whether that’s time with loved ones, I’m entering motherhood for the first time, family responsibilities, travel, or simply creating space to think. It’s about being intentional with your energy and time.

Own your narrative. Don’t wait for validation. The moment you stop seeking permission is the moment everything shifts.

What “women” hangups have you been a victim to, that you feel sets women up to fail in their professional career?

The idea that we need to be liked in order to be successful. This can lead to over-explaining, underpricing, or holding back. Once you release that need, you step into a much more powerful position.

Are you affected by the Confidence Gap, where studies show that women require confidence as well as competence to succeed in the workplace environment, whereas their male counterparts don’t?

Yes, especially early in my career. I often felt I needed to over-deliver to justify my seat at the table. Over time, I realized that competence speaks for itself. Confidence is built through action by showing up consistently and trusting your expertise.

What does equality mean to you and is it important?

Equality means access, to opportunity, to platforms, to recognition. It’s not about sameness; it’s about fairness. And it’s absolutely essential for progress.

In your experience, what types of male allyship do you feel women need to foster at home and at work, to encourage an equitable ecosystem?

Active allyship, not passive support. This means advocating for women in rooms we’re not in, creating opportunities, and recognizing talent without bias. At home, it’s about shared responsibility; at work, it’s about shared respect.

What would you tell your 18-year-old self, looking back over your life’s experiences?

You don’t need to have it all figured out, just keep moving forward with intention. And trust that everything you’re building will make sense in time.

What advice would you give to women to help them step into their power?

Own your narrative. Don’t wait for validation. The moment you stop seeking permission is the moment everything shifts.

Can you share one resource (book, course, mastermind/masterclass, etc.) that you feel all women need to have?

A strong network of women. There is nothing more powerful than collective support, shared knowledge, and genuine encouragement.

What mantra do you live by and how has it impacted your life?

“Move with intention, not pressure.” “Don’t look back you are not going that way” It reminds me to stay grounded and focused, even in high-pressure environments.

Equality means access, to opportunity, to platforms, to recognition.

Which therapies/modalities have helped to shape your healing and empowerment journey that you think would be helpful for other women?

Self-reflection and honest conversation. Whether through mentorship, journaling, or simply taking time to process experiences, I’ve found that awareness is the foundation of growth.

May is South Asian Heritage Month. What speaks to you about how far the culture has come into pop cultural visibility on the global landscape?

The shift from representation to influence. South Asian culture is no longer on the periphery it’s shaping global conversations in fashion, beauty, and media. That visibility is incredibly powerful.

Growing up South Asian, how did your cultural upbringing shape the way you saw yourself?

It gave me a strong sense of identity and resilience. At the same time, I had to navigate expectations and redefine success on my own terms, which ultimately strengthened my independence. I feel grateful for my childhood in London, Ontario, and being continuously being involved with the community at large.

As an ethnic, female founder, what invisible barriers have you faced because of these two factors and how have you navigated them to your benefit?

There are often preconceived notions, about scale, about ambition, about leadership. I’ve navigated this by letting my work speak I have been in the fashion and luxury space for 25 years from backstage, working with leading designers, owning an PR company, having a podcast, tv show and on stage is an accumulation of my experience and by consistently delivering at a high level. Over time, that builds undeniable credibility.

Rosemin Beauty is being built at a time where heritage and fluid beauty standards intersect. Where within this vast range of identities does Rosemin Beauty stand as a brand?

Rosemin Beauty sits at the intersection of heritage and modernity. It’s about intelligent, refined beauty that understands undertones, lifestyles, and the realities of women who are constantly moving.

Who is the identity you’ve built Rosemin Beauty for and what do you hope they are able to get from it that perhaps isn’t present in others on the market?

It’s for the modern, global woman particularly those with warm and olive complexion, who wants high-performance products that enhance rather than mask. It’s about confidence, ease, and feeling seen. From my 12 years at a luxury publication I have worked on applying my editing skills to create a niche collection

What is your go to market distribution strategy?

A hybrid approach: direct-to-consumer to build a strong brand narrative with our ecommerce site, combined with strategic retail partnerships like Ulta Beauty to scale visibility and accessibility.

What are your plans for the brand for 2026?

Expansion both in product and presence. We are building out our core categories, strengthening our retail footprint, and continuing to refine the brand experience globally. This is just the beginning for Rosemin Beauty.

You don’t need to have it all figured out, just keep moving forward with intention. And trust that everything you’re building will make sense in time.
